Home Operations Manager Executive

What do you do for Our Family Home?

I am a Home Operations Manager Executive for Our Family Home. In this role, I oversee the day-to-day operations for our homes in Cincinnati and ensure that we are meeting the individual needs of our residents. I also coordinate care with third parties including home health, physical therapy, hospice and physicians.

How long have you worked with Our Family Home?

I have been with Our Family Home for a little over two years. However, I have more than 20 years of experience working in long term care, including working with individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other diseases.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The relationships with our residents, families and staff. Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t just affect the residents.  It affects everyone. I want the residents and their families to know they are not alone in their journey.  This is what I love most about the Our Family Home concept: we are able to provide individualized care for each of our residents where they are in their journey. Because of our 2:5 ratio, our staff truly is dedicated to doing what we can to make better days for all.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family and being outdoors. I like hiking, camping, archery and gardening. We also just moved to a 100-acre farm with cows and horses. So I’ve been spending a lot of my time working on our farm.

What have you learned working with the residents of Our Family Home?

I’ve learned that just because a person has Alzheimer’s or dementia doesn’t mean their story is over. Our residents have impacted me as much as I impact them. You just have to be able to adjust your day-to-day approach. You need to be willing to get into their moment and understand where they are in their journey.

How does OFH give residents and families more good days?

Our individualized focus and care help us give our residents and families more good days. It’s what makes us feel like we’re a family. We lean on each other and we take the time to give our residents what they need – empathy, dedication and compassion. I believe this is where we stand out. We are a family and we want our residents to feel like this is their home. It’s a wonderful compliment when a resident says they feel like they’re home.
